Wait unto Death ( Part-9)

Continued from (Part-8) After the vacation were over, grandson left for the city under great compulsions leaving behind the grandfather in an ocean of agony. It was a pleasant day after many days of continuous snowfall. The whole village was shining in bright sunlight the way Big Father shone for few days during the company of his grandson. But again beautiful time could not lasted long. To the village evening came with dark clouds and for the Big Father, grandson left him once again. Both the village and Big Father were in a gloomy mood. Big Father stood up from his wooden arm chair, it appeared that his old eyes wanted the eternal rest now. At this juncture of life, after passing through the numerous phases of life, he had only one wish in his heart, he wanted to see whole of his scattered family with him once again in his empty big house. He also knew that all his sons had settled down at different places, so assembling them at one place was quite impossible. Slowly walking towards ...

Childhood- Part.1

A traditional India hilly village surrounded by huge mountains and snow clad peaks of Mighty Himalaya.  There was a clean water stream flowing through the middle of the village. The mountains were covered by evergreen Cedar forests. After every rain the cold mist would  remain on the heights of mountains for longer time. The village consisted a habitat of few families which were marginally poor. Their wooden log houses with horizontal muddy terrace always became a problem for the villagers during rains and winter as the water seeped in easily. Only one house in the centre of the village was considerably bigger and had a tin sheeted sloppy roof. It was a luxury to had a house like that, because people didn’t needed to go out in the rain and repair the seepage. The house belonged to the village head, who was also the priest of the village.

The residents of this village were absolutely simple innocent and transparent hearted. They always spoke what was inside their hearts. The villagers oftenly roamed in village with their cattle and other farm related works. Everyday they would crisscross the path besides the bigger house in the village. Every time they meet the village head they would greet him with lots of love and respect.

Village head was a very kind old man. Unlike his status, he was also physically a big bodied person with wide open eyes, a big face and a loud voice. He loved every villager and helped everyone in the village during their every hour of need. The villagers would also repay him with their honesty and pure love. They had innocently named him Big Father.

Big Father had a big family, a big herd of cattle and  lots of land. His sons would go to other villages for trade of herbs and other crops. It seemed that the Big Father was the happiest person on this earth. He had absolutely no worries and could be seen playing with his grand son all the time after his routine prayers. The grand son lived a kings life in the family. He had every luxury of that time like a horse to ride, a hen to lay eggs, a lamb to play with, regular supply of toffees by his grand father, and chances to go to nearby villages with his trader uncles. He also had few friends in his village schools also who would quietly help him in completing his homework and assignments.

One day when father of this boy decided that the boy will be sent to nearby town for better education. The little boy did not wanted to leave his village and wept a lot but it was decision of his father for his better future. His grandfather The Big Father was also quite this time because this was the question of better future for his adorable grandson. Honestly speaking Big Father was also very upset. He had many games yet to finish with his grandson. In the next morning , heavy hearted boy had tears quietly rolling down his cheeks started his journey with his father towards the nearby town. The boy who was very quiet did not looked back towards his mother and grandfather knowing that it will emotionally weaken both the sides.  They would get a bus after crossing few rivers and tracking the hilly path for one hour. Later the bus would take 3 hours to reach the town. To pass the journey father told many stories to the son but he actually didn’t heard even a single word as he was busy playing with his school friends and grandfather in his thoughts.

( What happened next with this little boy will be in my next Blog)
