Image
Continued from (Part-8) After the vacation were over, grandson left for the city under great compulsions leaving behind the grandfather in an ocean of agony. It was a pleasant day after many days of continuous snowfall. The whole village was shining in bright sunlight the way Big Father shone for few days during the company of his grandson. But again beautiful time could not lasted long. To the village evening came with dark clouds and for the Big Father, grandson left him once again. Both the village and Big Father were in a gloomy mood. Big Father stood up from his wooden arm chair, it appeared that his old eyes wanted the eternal rest now. At this juncture of life, after passing through the numerous phases of life, he had only one wish in his heart, he wanted to see whole of his scattered family with him once again in his empty big house. He also knew that all his sons had settled down at different places, so assembling them at one place was quite impossible. Slowly walking towards ...

Continued from Part-7 As per the wish of big father, his grandson dropped him back to the village in the mid winter. All his ideas of enjoyment in city with his grandfather were down to dust. Now he was hopeful that his grandfather would surely cheer up once again after reaching his village. So he took him to all of their favourite places where both of them oftenly visited during the winter season. He tried to play all the games of past with his grandfather but everything he tried to repeat didn’t worked. It was a complete changed season for both of them. Perhaps the winter had lost its charm or the snow had lost its chill. The soft snow on which both of them had carved many faces in past was perhaps not so soft anymore. Both of them who tattle for hours in past were quiet and lull now. To make his grandfather feel happy he decided to stay with him for the whole winter. Every night he would narrate many funny tales of past to him till he falls asleep. The boy oftenly would lost hi...

Continued from Part. 6 Coming back to the city the boy continued with his education, but most of the time his heart and mind was lost in observing the happenings around him and finding a lesson out of those incidents.  Months passed by and it was time for winter vacations. Winter had lots of golden memories in his mind. He had seen so many snowfalls with his grandfather listening to many exciting stories about the snow and life during snow season in the high altitude of Himalayan villages. The boy had all the memories fresh in his mind like blow of frosting winds, piles of snow, covered trees, disappearing of neighbouring mountains, changing of the horizons during winters, dropping and sagging of trees with snow, foggy nights etc. That winter he had decided to celebrate the whole season differently. He moved his grandfather with him to the city.  It was not that the Big Father had come to this city for the first time. It was during his days of struggle he visited this c...

Childhood-Part 6.

Image
Continued from Part-5 It was when time had just started giving few beautiful years to the Big Father and he lived his life at its best. Wheel of time turned and  his beloved grandson left for the city. Big Father was again in tears and hopeless. His eyes were wet again. Suddenly he felt that his old age might not give him more opportunities to play with his grandson. He had perhaps forgotten the lesson that time takes away  everything it gave to us leaving us helpless Condition of his home was also not like before. Every one was busy in their own affairs at different places. His big house was almost empty. The rooms which once echoed with the whoops of delight were quiet. It was like an abandoned nest the birds of which had flown away.  On the other side his grandson in the city was also upset, missing his family, friends and entire village.Every moment he dealt with his beautiful past memories. In love for his village he would either made paintings of his village ...

Cont. From Childhood - Part 4 So it was the start of golden days for the grandfather. Days were passing in planning and dreaming about his golden future when time took another good turn and he was nominated as the head of 5 villages by the government on the basis of his social work and dedication. It was a prestigious moment for him. Now his fame had increased many times in entire hills.  During this phase of transition in his life he got totally involved in the service of people. With the passage of time he got fully involved in social service having no involvement in  his business at all. Thankfully all his work and business was managed by his wife along with the farms. It was her greatness that she sent her sons to schools and hired labourers for farming related works. Time never waits for anybody and its flow never stops, so happened in his life. One day when his wife while explaining to him about his business, he felt shocked to see some of her hair turned grey on her hea...

Childhood Part -4

Continued from Part-3. The Big Father while asking these question from himself went deep in to the world of his own struggling days. He was born in a poor family and didn’t had much resources to enjoy with. Cruel hands of death had snatched his father very early in life.He didn’t even remembered  his face, nor got any opportunity to cuddle, hug or play with him.His childhood was not normal.Time didn’t let him any opportunity to enjoy his childhood and  play games or enjoyed swimming with other boys. After the death of his father, the condition of his home had deteriorated badly. Managing four square meals was a hard task for his mother. She had to work for extra long hours in her small fields to feed her self and small child. It was the time when the production was very low in fields due to the traditional farming techniques and old seeds. The land was ploughed using bulls and no fertilisers were available. It often required more hard work and labour to yield marginal a...

On reaching the village the boy directly ran towards the nearby farm where his mother was working. He hugged his mother and cried for some time saying that he don’t  want to go back to town. He innocently said, he was ready to do any kind of work in the village but would never go back to his new school. His mother had also tears in her eyes but was silent, she knew that all this was happening for his good future only. The boy ran towards the village temple where his grandfather was praying. Seeing the boy running, Big Father came out of temple and hug the boy but boy was very upset and silent, he pulled his grandfather back inside the temple and said, “all the villagers said that God listen to you please ask the God that I should fall seriously ill till next day so that my father cant not take me back to the town”. Now let’s move ahead. The boy reached the town which was not new for him. He had visited this town so many times with his father and uncles for many good reasons like buying his toys, watching circus etc. But today the reason for being in the town was not nice. Today all the buildings streets, toyshops, bull-carts, cycles were not so attractive for him. He walked hopelessly towards his new boarding school. In a very short span of time he reached the school and after going through a simple kind of admission process he got admission done in this school.  The father was trying to motivate his son for staying happy in the new environment. To amuse him,  he took the boy to market and gave him some sweets, a new school uniform, few books,  one pair of shoes and his favourite red coloured ball. But that...

Childhood- Part.1

Image
A traditional India hilly village surrounded by huge mountains and snow clad peaks of Mighty Himalaya.  There was a clean water stream flowing through the middle of the village. The mountains were covered by evergreen Cedar forests. After every rain the cold mist would  remain on the heights of mountains for longer time. The village consisted a habitat of few families which were marginally poor. Their wooden log houses with horizontal muddy terrace always became a problem for the villagers during rains and winter as the water seeped in easily. Only one house in the centre of the village was considerably bigger and had a tin sheeted sloppy roof. It was a luxury to had a house like that, because people didn’t needed to go out in the rain and repair the seepage. The house belonged to the village head, who was also the priest of the village. The residents of this village were absolutely simple innocent and transparent hearted. They always spoke what was inside their hearts. The vil...
